Psychophonic Test Shots

This latest short film is a combination of stop-motion figure in a kind of avant garde setting. A colleague of mine came up with the basic storyline, I designed and built many of the backgrounds, another collage of mine painted the walls, other colleagues helped in the budget and others helped build and paint the characters. It was one of those projects in which everyone finds what they gravitate towards most. As for me, I had a great deal of fun creating the setting of the film. I had begun my research by taking reference shots from The Boxtrolls, Coraline and The Aristocats. From that point on, I began sketching as many ideas as I could come up with until I had settled on a style that captured the overall tone of the film. With the blue moon lighting, the crooked lines, cracked plaster and antique-looking furniture, I believe I helped create a kind of house of horrors for our feline protagonist.
